how am i so...calm?

I GOT IN A FOUR CAR ACCIDENT TONIGHT


imagine this.

it's friday night, you're chillin with some friends at church after youth group.
everybody leaves about the same time at almost eleven at night.
so u get in your car, get some tunes going.
you're feelin good heading home from church.

you're the first person in front of the stop light.

the light turns green.

you begin to inch up when...



BAM!!!



first reaction: "what the fuck was that?"
second reaction: "oh shit...i just got rear ended, didn't i?"


thaaaat's right folks, i got in a car accident tonight.
just a couple hours ago i was part of a 4 car accident.


This is what happened:

a DRUNK DRIVER with smoke coming out from his hood, rear ends a BRAND NEW CAR.

The new car is in BACK of me.

the drunk driver hits the new car SO HARD that the new car was able to rear end me.

then the drunk driver starts driving off again and sideswipes a white car.

yes, it was a hit and run.

five minutes later the cops found the driver.
he was so drunk he couldn't move.

3 cop cars and a firetruck show up at the scene.
The other people involved in the accident were FREAKED OUT!
The lady with the new car was the most hysterical. but...can you really blame her? the car had just been bought within that WEEK!
her passenger also had a broken rib!


so what about me?


the funny thing is...i was extremely calm.

you'd think i'd be freakin out or worrying that my parents would kill me but no...

i was just...calm

numb i guess would be a good word.

i was the youngest one of the "victims" and i was the only one pretty much showing no emotion.

people were going up to the others asking if they were all right and they'd start to cry or look extremely shocked.

when it came to me, i just casually said "yeah i'm fine." even though my spare tire in the back is squished in.

i was just leaning against my car while i was watching the chaos happen around me.


heh, i remember calling christine and casually telling her "yeah i got in an accident. i just got rear ended."
this is what christine had to say when i called her:
"dude.. u sounded SO calm tho.. it was crazy! i was like.. uh.. did she just say she was rear ended?? she sounded too calm for that.... "


i even found the irony in it.

what's ironic about the entire situation was that i was interviewed today by one of the FilmEd* students for a project.
what were the questions about?
DRINKING

so...i found it really ironic that i got interviewed about drinking earlier today and then got into an accident with a drunk driver.
i even had myself a little laugh about that and decided to call dave and tell him about what happened cuz he was asked the drinking questions as well.
he didn't pick up right away so i sent him a text that said "u know what's ironic? i got interviewed about drinking today and i got in an accident with a drunk driver just an hour ago".
he called me back 20 minutes later to see how i was doing and told me that it was the weirdest message he'd ever received, but he was glad i was ok.

i think the only upsetting thing that happened was the reaction my dad had.
since everyone already called the police and 911, my parents were the first people i called.

*sigh*

u would think you can count on your parents to say "what happened? are you ok?"
NOT MINE!
or at least not my dad!
in my calm voice i say "hey dad, can u come get me. i got rear ended."
what does he say?!
in an irritable tone he says "Mhmm....what happened NOW?!"

thanks dad...thanks a lot.

at least his reaction sort of changed when he saw 3 cop cars and a firetruck surrounding us.
he was a little more "gentle".

i guess i'm very thankful that this accident happened when i was going home from church.
if it were work, dave would be on my parent's shit list and might make me quit working night and have more control over me.
luckily it was church. i mean come on...what are they gonna do? ban me from going to church?

well, it's late.
i gotta finish a movie and then go to bed.
